Your monthly donation helps prepare a homeless animal for adoption, provides a bag of pet food to a community member in need, and fuels our van to get animals to safety.

Love Stories between Elsie and Dot

Story by: Kate, HCHS volunteer

Beautiful Elsie spent five long years on a chain. The blazing heat, torrential rain and freezing cold were bad, but even worse was the terrible loneliness.

The day her family surrendered her to HCHS, Elsie’s luck began to turn. Tender loving care from her foster dad Gil started healing her broken heart. And then Elsie met Dot, her adopter and guardian angel.

Dot drove 600 miles to get Elsie. And she gave Elsie unlimited love and patience, soothing her fears until she realized she’d never be alone again.

And that’s why our volunteers work so hard for the animals of Highland County:  Brave dogs like Elsie and wonderful people like Dot.
